Koinonia (pronounced "coy-noh-NEE-uh") is a Greek word used throughout the New Testament to describe deep Christian fellowship — a shared life marked by friendship, encouragement, generosity, discipleship, and unity in Christ. More than simple social connection, koinonia reflects the kind of intentional, sacrificial community the early church was known for. This app is named Koinonia because it exists to help people care for one another well: to strengthen friendships, support pastoral relationships, and cultivate meaningful, Christ-centred community in everyday life.
Version 2.1 Now on the App Store
Rich friendships, with purpose.
Koinonia helps you stay intentional with the people who matter most. Plan less, remember more, and show up consistently.
The name
Koinonia is for everyone
For the introvert who needs prompting and the extrovert who needs organization.
For the pastor with many to shepherd, and a friend worth more than their weight in gold.
For the Type A who likes to be organized, and the Type B who needs to be organized.
How Koinonia Helps
From your friend list to your timeline, prayer list, and insights—everything is designed to help you show up well: who to contact, what to remember, and when to follow up.
Color-coded circles
Every friend on your list appears as a bubble with a coloured glow around their photo. Each circle you create has its own colour—Family, Church, Work, and so on—so you can see at a glance who belongs where. When someone sits in several circles, their bubble blends up to four colours in one ring.
Timeline
See overdue catch-ups, birthdays, milestones, and planned meetups in one place—grouped by what’s due today, this week, and beyond.
Catch-up rhythm
Set weekly, monthly, ad-hoc, or custom frequencies per friend. Clear Due, Scheduled, and On Track states keep momentum without guilt.
Catch-up history
Log calls, coffees, and visits with notes, topics discussed, follow-ups, and photos—so every friendship has a real history.
Talking points
Jot what you want to bring up next time. Points appear on profiles, the timeline, and when you plan a catch-up.
Post-it notes
Free-form title-and-body notes on any friend for anything that doesn’t fit elsewhere—edit, reorder, and delete.
Prayer points
Prayer lists per friend plus personal points for yourself or people not in the app. Mark when you’ve prayed and stay encouraged.
Reminders & milestones
Track birthdays, anniversaries, and custom reminders. Reschedule catch-ups and sync optional calendar events from the app.
Insights
See catch-up trends, who needs a nudge, your most connected friends, and a full map of everyone by catch-up rhythm.
Quick actions
Long-press a friend to call, message, log a catch-up, or add a talking point. Profiles offer one-tap call, message, log, and plan.
Smart notifications
Gentle reminders before catch-ups are due, when you’re overdue, and for upcoming birthdays—present without overwhelming.
Memories & gift ideas
Save quotes, gift ideas, and milestones so you can show up thoughtfully—not scrambling to remember the little things.
Swipe navigation
From Friends, swipe to Timeline or Insights. Sort by circle, name, or time since last catch-up—and pin Best Friends to the top.

Data stays on your device. Optional iCloud sync through your Apple account keeps everything encrypted in your ecosystem—not on third-party servers.
